Going To The Symphony With Mary Part I

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Hello Ladies;

I wanted to tell you about my work–not the instructional consults, but the outside coaching.  Part of my work, is to go out with clients who have trained with me previously and who want to experience more real life situations. I want to tell you about Mary and our consult going to the symphy. Mary is about 35-40 years old, she is about 5’8” and she wants to always dress classy.  And Mary has had several consults with me, on movement, makeup and voice,  and shopping consults.

Mary recently contacted me because she wanted to go to the symphy and didn’t want to go alone. Now, Mary passes fine in public,  but this was her first large public gathering. She loves classical musical music and the symphony was playing one of her favorite pieces.

So, Mary arraged for great seats, and I was excited about going. But, our first assigment was…getting Mary something new to wear…to make this a very special occasion for her. So, several days before the performance, we met at Macy’s to pick out her outfit. We didn’t want to select something very dressy that she couldn’t wear other places, but something that would be suitable for any late night event. As we looked around Macy’s, a sales lady helped us pick out three dresses which all of us love. .

The first was simple  basic black dress made of a form fitting fabric, that  accernuated Mary’s curves. Mary loved this dress, as she has just purchased some black pumps which would go with the dress perfectly. Our second selection was a light blue dress, with long sleeves….almost sky blue. The blue went well with the new blonde wig, I had purchased with her lasgt year and it brought out the blue in her eyes. I suggested, it would help if she added a touch of blue eyeliner. Wow, her eyes would just pop! The third dress was a green, wrap style… and she felt  the belt would  emphasized her new waist line. So, which to choose, since Mary looked good in all of them. In the end, we decided to go with the green dress, as she could dress it down and wear it other places. The sales woman agreed with our choice.

We left Macy’s, said goodbye, and agreed to meet again on Sat for drinks before the performance. So, stay tuned, I will report on  details on how the evening progressed/

Walking in 4 Inch Heels, Change Your Step

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

 Denae,

Normally, when I walk in heels, I tend to go heel to toe, but when they are 4″ it causes a flex in the shoe, which stretches it just a bit. When walking on pavement or asphalt, this causes the shoe to audibly pop as I shift weight forward and the heel releases from the ground. The only way I can prevent this (which is really annoying) is to walk toe to heel which shortens up my step and almost makes it feel like I am prancing. If you have other suggestions, I would love to hear about them. Thanks so much!

Claudia

Hello Claudia. I love your question. I am filming a new DVD on how to walk in heels, due to the new 4-inch heel that is on the market. Yes, it is difficult to walk with the heel toe, when wearing the 4-inch heel.

Here is what I want you to do. Take smaller steps. Reach with your lead foot–and instead of using the standard heel toe, heel toe technique–step out, place your weight on the ball of your foot. Next, practice allowing very little weight going into your heels. If you need to use your arms for balance, then do so. As long as they are feminine. I use my shoulders, for better balance. See what works for you, to obtain balance.

Claudia, Remember These Points:

Don’t look down, keep your head up.

Remember, chest and breasts lifted up, shoulders back, head back, and your chin parallel to the floor, while reaching out with the upper thigh and placing the ball of the foot directly down. By lifting all the weight UP and OUT of your waist while walking your hips are able to have a controlled swing– as they have very little weight in them. This allows you to control the degree of swing in your hips.

Evaluate the amount of arm swing, by the degree of hip swing. Your arms, when swinging correctly…will help keep your balance.  Keeping your weight UP is also the key to having a sexy hip swing. Also, remember to: Tilt your heads, roll your shoulders, and smile.

For all of you, who have purchased Vol 1, go back and review my walking segment. I demonstrate how to use a pole pointed down, in front of one foot…while tilting the pole downward with each step. This determines the correct “length” you should step…in relationship to the length of your arm reach. When your legs and arms are coordinated, you can change your walk to short casual steps, medium, or long.

Let me know how your practice time goes!

Hugs,

Denae

Walking In Heels

Monday, November 16th, 2009

Hello Ladies, this is Denae. I have had several emails, regarding how to “walk in heels”. Now heels are 4 inches, which will need an update from my previous teachings. I am thinking of doing a new very short, dvd…on walking in heels. Can you ladies, tell me if this is something you think would be helpful? It is so easy to show, instead of trying to write it. I will give you some tips, in my blog tomorrow, I need to put my thoughts together. What do you say?
Hugs to all,

Walking in Heels….Nothing More Than a Balancing Act.

Hello Everyone!
I actually came to writing this post by accident. I’m a Canuck gal, so playing hockey is part a big part of my life. I was having difficulty with my skating, and i wanted to improve during this past summer. My agility and lack of foot speed was slowing me down. I asked around, and did some web searches and decided that my balance needed to be improved. Thats means to practice my balance away from the ice all together. I purchased two different balance or “wobble” boards. So there I was, in my living room struggling to stand on the 2 foot square piece of wood. Many concerned and confused looks from my dog also! As I started, I could feel the tendons and muscles being worked in legs. Little by little over the next few weeks, my posture and balance seemed to be much better. I was training in my running shoes and wearing high heels didnt even enter my mind. I was going out one day and figured my outfit needed a pair of heels as the finishing touch. I couldn’t believe the way i was moving.
With grace and agility that was never there before I felt i was walking on air. If any of you ladies are having difficulty in heels, you just might want to temporarily trade them in for your runners. This works. Big time. Practice balance separately….you WILL see results. They are simple to make, costing under $5 worth of lumber. Here is a link where they can be purchased.

I reccommend this style because it worked for me. Be careful at first, take frequent breaks but stick with it. Youll be tearing up the runway in no time. Special thanks and much love to my dear sister Denae….you taught me to be a lady. You are such a blessing to us all. Your instructional DVDs have helped me so much. I was lost without them!

Leggings For Winter

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

Hello Everyone, I am just back from shopping. For winter, the stores are showing a lot of leggings. However, Macy’s has very tight fitting pants, (also tight at the ankle) which looks much better when worn with the long tunic tops. And, if your shape is great, you can wear them with a shorter blouse. I suggest you look for these, before you purchase leggings. The stores also have jeans, which look like tight leggings. With the tunic blouses, this is a great look…especially for tg women who may have a difficult time with the tummy area. I purchased a pair of black tight pants, which look like leggings, at Macy’s. INC is the brand, they stretch and look casual or with the right blouse…can look dressy!

I have a plea to many of you. Please help our sisters who are being raped, burned, and mutilated in many other countries. Ophra put a spot light on this, recently. Horrific. This organization is helping these women, get surgery and help. Please visit the web page.

For $27.00 a month, you can sponsor one woman, who will write to you.  It is my hope that many of you, will help your sisters, individually. In addition, watch for Ophra’s new book club next week.
