Answer To Karen
Hello Karen, You emailed me a question–many tg women consider. Is your size, height, and weight important, when considering transition? Karen, this is a really difficult question for me. Let me try to describe what I have seen, from working with hundreds of tg woman privately. Of course, one has to be true to themselves. However, one has to be sure, they have made the right time choices. The girls I see, who succeed with the least amount of problems…have considered if they are transitioning at the right time. Do they have enough money to live on, and will they be able to work at the same job.Do they have young children, who still depend on them for food and a roof over their head, and your age.
All of you will agree that..for a genetic woman…size, weight, healthy hair, are important. I have clients tell me, they are not attracted to big or heavy genetic women. So, it would apply to tg woman also. If you are over 6 feet, and if you wear womens sizes that are in the 20′s,. if you have not lost weight, and if you have not worked on your voice…then yes…all of this will work against you. Being a woman, is very hard work, and people are hard on women. So, just realize…when you enter into the “world of beig a woman” you will have the same areas working against you. This is sad, but true. Many men, can be over weight, and still lwork. However, if your a tg woman, heavy and you have not worked on all the areas we discussed…you must consider if you are being impulsive and acting to quickly.
There are a lot of positive issues in being a woman…however this is not one of them! If you feel, you have to many areas working against you…then perhaps work in guy mode, (some even take a small amt of hormones) and let your private life, be your own business.
However, if you are a good size, and weight, and if you are able to work from home, or if you own your own business or if you can retire early…transition will be much easier for you. Life is just not fair for women. We have to use our heads, and be reasonable. I hope this helps answer your question, Karen.
