Women have more pressure to be thin. I recently read an article on how men rated women–what would be the number one factor, in his attraction between several types of women. What made her desirable. Was it her beautiful face, charming smile, career, or her shape?
I was surprised at the results. A woman with a beautiful face, who was “some what” heavy…lost out to a woman with a plain face but had a good body. Simply put, most men prefer a woman with nice body for a first time date and for a lasting relationship. Gosh, I’m thinking to myself. Does this say…most men would pick a woman who wasn’t particularly “pretty”–but had a slim body? I began my own research. I found…at my gym and around my friends….many women with really pretty faces, were not approached, while a woman who wasn’t particularly pretty, perhaps didn’t even wear makeup or spend a lot of time on her hair…but had a good body…was being approached and went on to lasting relationships. Heavy set, beautiful women, tend to be alone. Think of Eliz Taylor. Beautiful, but heavy. However, I think this would apply to men also….perhaps women prefer a male with a nice body. So, this disappointing insight left me with some “food for thought” on sliming down for your feminine goals.
Pick the newer foods you can eat, that have been given flavor makeovers. Starkist Tuna Creations is now abailable with tomatoe pesto albacore, each 4-ounce serving of this marinated tuna contains between 120 and 140 calories. $2.00 at your grocery store. I also have been eating Breakstones’e LiveActive Cottage Cheese, with 3 grams of fiber in each 110-120 calorie cup which keeps your digestive system humming. Go for the new pineapple and mixed berry versions. $3.00 for four, at your grocery store. Old London Melba Toast, all natural crisps now come in rosemary and olive oil, as well as sourdough flavors. They make a perfect base for lowfat cheese. $3.00 for a 5 oz box at your grocery store. Lastly, I found a new snack, Manny’s Healthy Snacks On The Go. This to to-go pack of celery, raisins, and carrot sticks also contains a lowfat ranchy dipping sauce; its available in two other snack mix varieties. $3.00 per pack. In your cookie section, you will find new diet cookies in every flavor, and I can not tell the difference in them– compared to cookies made with sugar.
Lastly, slow down when you eat. Don’t watch television. Chew your food slowly and stop between bites. In modeling school, early on…I was taught to “think about what I was eating”. When we eat, and our minds are racing …or if we are reading, or just eating while in a “stance” due to worry worry, etc.– we tend to over-eat. Once I created these habits. they stayed with me. I don’t salt my food. I only think about eating… when I eat. I slow down, and taste the food in my mouth while I am chewing. I drink a lot of water, after eating (don’t drink ice water). Don’t love to eat, but rather love…to look and feel good. See yourself (in your mind) how you will look.
With time, and with “conscious eating” you will begin to lose weight. When you’re totally present with your food, thinking ONLY about chewing slowly (not about fearful or angry situations in your life)…you are able to focus on the food making you healthy and making you thin. Begin to have a personal relationship with your food, while you’re chewing…only think about the food and how it will make you feel and look better…and don’t eat when your emotionally escaping.
Eat, when you have the time…to taste the food, chew the food, and think about how well the food is going to make you feel and eat. Take time, to buy tons of salad material, and vegs you can grill, along with protein items you can grill, so you can prepare a healthy dinner during your busy week-nights. Recently, I bought a George Foreman grill… I put some asparagus, with tuna on the grill. Minutes later, dinner is ready. No fat, no oil and no mess. Dinner is about 5 mins. The vitamins are left, as you’re not boiling them out. You can use a grill for all types of meat, chicken. Remember, your stomach is the size of your fist.
I always say, “Its not what you eat, it’s what your thinking about while you eat”.
Give it a try! Its easier than dieting!
