Fall 08 Coat
Hello to Linda, thank you for your question regarding coat lenth for taller women, this year.
Linda, I am also tall…5′9″ and I have found… fitted, “Duster Coats” (longer coats ending above the knee, not below the knee) look great on tall women. I have put longer coats/jackets/on many of my TG clients, and they look fabulous. A short jacket, just makes the tall woman look like a mushroom. Now, for the curvy look, I like the duster to be fitted OR have a tie belt. I look for a basic color coat, very form fitting..which allows the waist to come in. Loose coats, will not work for most of you.
Find the right arm length, and if needed, take to a seamstress and have the waist taken in for the curvy look (small waist and fuller hips). Tall women should avoid double breasted coats which are made of a thick wool, buttons or wide lapels. Again, longer, fitted, and darker colors.
Next, tall women look FABULOUS in long winter boots (right below the knee). Shorter women, generally can’t wear long boots, so… for my taller TG women…let this winter…be your trench coat season with long boots and large sun-glasses. If you have large or thick thighs, many brands have a second hidden zipper or stretch section on the inside of the boot. I don’t suggest a boot, with very high heels. They are much more difficult to wear for more than a few hours due to the leather pulling around your calf, and the extreme arch on the higher heel. Try a 1 1′2 inch heel to a 2 1/2 boot heel, for comfort and a look you can wear any and all places! Denae
What Size HandBag Is Best For The TG Woman~ With Larger Shoulders?
The wrong size purse, for your body type…can be an instant give away for the TG woman. Just as you would consider the style and cut of your clothes, so should you think about the size and shape of your handbag. I find most of my TG clients are taller and many have wider shoulders. Here are my suggestions for the taller TG woman.
Bags can be used to draw the eyes away from the bits of your body you want to hide, and focus attention on those parts which you consider to be your assets.
TG women with heavy shoulders should avoid carrying short-handled bags that finish around the bust area, as this only serves to accentuate your shoulders more. Go for a longer length finishing around your middle, or a larger size clutch purse which is carried in your hand. It is best for most TG women to not carry small clutch purses….. under the arm. Clutch purses are fine provided they are oversized.
Try to avoid carrying a tiny bag, as this only serve to make you look bigger. Choose a more tailored bag, which will give definition and go for a medium to large size.
As a general rule, select a bag shape that is in contrast to your body type. Curvy women who wear med to large hip pads, would do well to choose a rectangular, longer shape, whereas a tall, willowy, slim figure would be better off going for a slouchy, rounded one. Color is important, and many of the new handbags and shoes are in accent colors now…not just black. I am selecting brown now, as black can be very harsh. Select a black shoe, and add the color in your handbag. Price? If you’re full time, get a good quality leather bag which will blend with a good leather black or brown shoe. And, try the handbags on, in the store…and select the size which looks best of your body style!

Hello All, I am amazed at all of your emails, regarding the link below…showing (with lights attached to females, gender neutral, and male bodies) the different areas that move, when walking. Please allow some time for the link to load, and simply hit play. This is very new and has nt been seen on the web, until now. I truly believe, you can learn…what I have been teaching…about walking. The different body tilt, is amazing. The shoulder and head movement for a feminine woman, is much more than most of you currently use. So, take a look! Realize, there will be a short advertisement first, then, WALK THIS WAY will appear in the video box.

Live Science, Shows The Difference In A Feminine Walk, To A Masculine Walk
LiveScience.com has done some great research, to track the difference in a feminine walk to a masculine walk. This is very interesting! It makes it very simple for the TG woman to understand…how to improve her walk. Study, how a woman does swing her shoulders–with her hips. Most men do not swing their shoulders. However, in teaching a TG woman (who does have larger shoulders)..I suggest not swinging the shoulders, to not bring attention to them. So, establish which areas you can use from the video and which would bring un-wanted attention. Take a look, and find your walk! And, study my DVD Vol 1 at femimage.com front page.
Researchers attached lights to people walking. The first one is a very feminine walk. The second one is gender-neutral. The third is a very masculine walk. Credit: Anna Brooks et al.

Newest Fall/Winter Shoes 08
I love shoes, and have found winter, is the most difficult time to find great looking shoes, that feel comfortable enough to wear all day. Summer, always has wonderful sandals with lots of fun details. But, winter shoes can be so drab! Plus, finding a fashionable shoe that is Wide…so our shoes/boots with narrow toes…do not hurt can be difficult to find.
I just ordered a few items from the new catalog of Aerosoles Shoes. I really love their new boots, they come in a flat heel, or a med heel. And, some fabulous half -boots. I love to wear these boots with jeans and a long duster coat or sweater. I add lots of winter pull down caps, with a matching scarf. You can find darling caps and scarf (and gloves) in all colors for winter, at Target or K-mart. Put your money, into your better quality shoes! Herewith some of Aerosoles.com new boots, if fasionable and comfort is important to you.

How To Buy Your First Dressy Dress!
With several ladies preparing for SCC this year, I have had a lot of emails, asking about evening gowns. Herewith some general tips for selecting your first, fabulous gown!
Marc Bouwer
While some fabrics are year-round — silk, brocade, organza, jersey — fabrics like velvet and gold spangles are best reserved for winter holidays.
Show off your best feature. If you have gorgeous eyes, then play them up with beautiful makeup, off-the-face hair and jeweled earrings in a complimentary shade.
Not sure what your best asset is? Ask a friend or significant other. Or go to a store that sells special occasion dresses and enlist the salesperson’s help. However, most TG woman like to cover their shoulders, and show their legs!
Blue (from navy to royal), pink (from cotton candy to fuchsia) and white (from candlelight to cream) look great on almost everyone. Remember that the “Don’t wear white to a wedding” wisdom is still considered a fashion don’t by most women.
Classic special occasion dresses are often deceptively simple, but they usually let the beauty of the wearer shine through. A few examples: the little black dress (a.k.a the cocktail dress), a goddess gown (draped and rouched), a ballgown, a slip dress.
5. Shop: Set a budget before shopping. Special occasion dresses usually cost more than $100, but if you comparison shop you can find one that works in your price range.
If you shop in a store, dress for the day by bringing along heels, any special accessories you know you want to use and a strapless bra.
When shopping online, make sure you understand both the sizing (know your measurements and check against a size chart on the site) and the return policy (some stores don’t take returns on dresses.)
Special Occasion Dresses
If your legs aren’t perfect enough to go bare need camouflage and you don’t like to wear leg makeup, then opt for super-sheer hose or fishnets.
Dressy Events~ What To Wear
I have had several consultations, for girls going to summer weddings. For a new ts woman, it is often difficult to understand what to wear…. to special occasions or weddings. Here is a general rule of dressing for that dressy occasion coming up.
What To Wear, As A Guest At A Wedding Or Special Occasion
- Informal Daytime: Short dress or suit (business attire OK for morning weddings)
- Informal Evening: Cocktail dress
- Semi-Formal Daytime: Short dress or suit
- Semi-formal Evening: Cocktail dress
- Formal Daytime: Short dress or suit. Hats and gloves optional.
- Formal Evening or Black-Tie: Long or dressy short cocktail (beading, glam accessories, wrap)
- Ultra-formal or White Tie: Long gown, extra glitz (furs, diamonds, etc.)
Do’s and Don’ts For Your Wardrobe At A Wedding
- Don’t wear white because it competes with the bride. There are plenty of other colors available.
- Don’t wear black or sequins during the daytime.
- Don’t worry about wearing the same colors as the bridesmaids or mothers. You can’t possibly coordinate with everyone in the wedding party.
- Do wear something feminine and appropriate, out of respect for your hosts. Clubwear, overtly sexy clothing (strapless, see-through, etc) doesn’t belong at a wedding. If you have to ask if it’s appropriate, it probably isn’t.
- Don’t wear opera-length gloves (to top of arm) with anything but sleeveless or strapless gowns.
- Do take off gloves to eat or drink.
Do use good judgment if the invitation doesn’t specify the formality of the event. A pastel suit or soft floral dress for daytime or a little black dress for evening (after 6 p.m.) will take you almost anywhere. Please ladies, leave your casual clothing at home. This is your time, to shine!
