In Your Easter Bonnet ~ Do You Remember That Song?
Easter is here, and the warmer weather has many of us, pulling off those winter fabrics, boots and sweaters! Yes, Easter Day, has been “the rule” in fashion…for bringing out your lighter, brighter clothing and shoes. Of course, this old rule is not written in stone today. However, you can use it as a guide line for seasonal/wardrobe change.
Here are the areas, I change at Easter:
1. I put away my darker hosiery…. such as taupe, coffee-bean, navy, and the “brown” colors….and I switch into lighter hosiery, such as buff, nude, light beige, and suntan. Also, bring out your open toe shoes, and sandals in your lighter shades….white, cream, wheat, etc. And, of course…get a fabulous straw handbag, a fabric bag, or a wheat leather bag. I stay away from all white shoes and all white handbags. A wheat color shoe and bag is always safe, to wear with your lighter spring colors and fabrics.
For “Casual” day wear, switch to a pair of shorter… ”Capri” jeans, in a lighter color. If you have great legs, try light colored mid-thigh jean shorts in light wash blue, beige, white, or even light pastels…such as pink. Or, a lighter color/fabric skirt. Protect your eyes from the sun; eyedoctors now report the sun burns your eyes as much as it burns your skin! And, don’t forget your nails and toe-nails by changing into colors such as a: Coral, Pink, French Tips or my favorite the “American Tip”. Treat yourself to a mani and pedi.
Not ready for a swim suit? Select a long sarong, wrap it around your waist and wear over a swim suit or shorts. A straw hat, sun-glasses, sarong, and light colored nails, toes and lips…and you’re ready to go to the beach, or BBQ or picnic.
As I gaze upon all the new colors blooming this time of year in California; the blooming fruit trees and colorful bulbs coming out of the ground, I am always inspired to ”lighten” up my wardrobe and makeup. I like to pack away those black, brown boots, closed toe shoes, leather shoes, winter sweaters, leather jackets and heavy fabric slacks, skirts, and coats. .
For evening, select a light weight coat, in a lighter color. The new Trench Coats and Rain Coats, are really cute in many colors this year. (I always carry, my winter coat, in the trunk of my car, for those late cold winter nights in San Francisco). But, for day…break out! Try the Sally Hanson Spray for Legs for any “farmers tan”. It washes off immediately in the shower; or if your full time– try a lasting tan gel or spray. A beard thinner, works well for removing SOME of the hair on your arms and legs, if your a CD. Lets don’t forget our face, which endured the winter wind and cold. Select a mild peel, to remove all the winter months of dead, gray skin. And, presto…you’re ready for summer!
Don’t forget your Sun Block! And, get a “higher quality” pair if sun glasses, to protect your eyes from sunburn. Gosh, all this ”fun in the sun” makes me thiristy for a pink margarita!
